ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

his renovation transforms a humble 1950s wooden row house into a raw, sophisticated Brutalist bar, preserving the structural memory while introducing a bold new identity. The original timber frame is juxtaposed against cast-in-place concrete walls and jagged, industrial textures, creating a "ruin-chic" aesthetic. This grit is elevated by a curated interior of 1950s Italian furniture, where the elegant, tapered silhouettes of Gio Ponti-inspired brass and velvet contrast sharply with the monochromatic concrete. The climax of the project is the biophilic rooftop, a lush escape where dense tropical ferns and trailing vines spill over raw concrete parapets. Here, the "honesty" of Brutalism meets a living, breathing canopy, offering a sensory contrast between the heavy structural base and the airy, botanical crown. It is a meaningful dialogue between mid-century warmth and tectonic power.
